RUNCLURB

Privacy Policy

Effective October 19, 2026

RunClurb is where run clubs organise events, track who showed up, and run friendly competitions. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else handles it, and how to delete it. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.

What we collect

  • Account: your name, email address and password (stored only as a one-way hash).
  • Club profile (optional fields): profile photo, bio, birthday, gender, city, and how you heard about the club. Birthday and gender are used for age-graded results.
  • Club activity: the clubs and chapters you join, RSVPs, event attendance, points, votes, comments, and photos you upload.
  • Strava (only if you connect it): your activities — type, date, distance, time, pace, elevation, heart rate, cadence, calories, kudos, PR count, and the route map and start/end location of each one — plus your Strava name and athlete ID. See Strava data below.
  • Workouts you record in the app (only if you use Record): your precise location while a run or walk is recording, with the time and altitude of each point, and the distance, time and pace worked out from it. Location is used only while you're recording, which you start and stop yourself, and iOS shows the location indicator the whole time. You choose who sees each workout: Only Me, Club or Everyone. The full GPS route is only ever shown to you, and you can download it as a GPX file or delete the workout at any time in My workouts. While recording, the iPhone's motion sensors count your steps (for cadence and treadmill distance) and its barometer measures your climb.
  • Heart rate (only if you choose a heart-rate source and agree): your heart rate while you record, saved with the workout: from your chest strap or armband, from the RunClurb Apple Watch app, or, if you choose Apple Watch without the watch app, read from Apple Health for that workout's start-to-finish time only. It's used for your effort scores and heart-rate events, never for advertising, and never sold. You decide who sees your heart-rate numbers: only you, unless you turn on “Show my heart rate to the club” in Settings → Record. Club members see results like effort scores either way. You can stop any time in Settings, and it is deleted with the workout.
  • Live location (only for a run you choose to share): your position, distance and time, about every 30 seconds, shown on a private link you send to whoever you choose. The link stops working when the run ends, or after 12 hours.
  • Where your workouts go (only if you turn it on): in Settings → Record you can have each workout sent to your Strava account and saved to Apple Health. The only thing RunClurb reads from Apple Health is the heart rate described above; nothing else. Starting a recording at a club event's meeting point can check you in to it, and clubmates who recorded the same group run can be named on each other's workouts if you both turn “Ran with” on.
  • Face recognition: when a club admin uploads event photos, we detect faces and match them against members' reference photos to mark attendance. This creates a face template for you. You can turn it off at any time in your club's Settings → Face Recognition, which stops matching you and removes your enrolment.
  • Device: a push-notification token if you allow notifications.
  • Usage and diagnostics: which pages you open in the app (to improve it), and any bug report you choose to send, including the screenshot attached to it. We also count website visits (the page, the site that linked to it, country and device type) without cookies and without anything that identifies you.

How we use it

  • To run your clubs: calendars, RSVPs, attendance, leaderboards and competitions.
  • To show your name, photo and club stats to other members of the same club.
  • To send the notifications you've turned on.
  • To generate optional AI training plans when you ask for them, from your race results and what you enter. Activity data from Strava is never sent to an AI service.
  • To keep the service secure and fix problems.

Your information is visible only inside the clubs you belong to. It isn't published on the open web, except for event pages a club chooses to share by link.

Who else handles your data

We use these service providers, only to run RunClurb:

  • Supabase: database and photo storage
  • Vercel: web hosting and visit counts
  • Strava: activity sync, only if you connect your account
  • Apple Push Notification service: notification delivery
  • Anthropic: generates AI training plans when you use those features. It receives your race results and the details you enter for the request. It never receives activity data from Strava, your email or your password.
  • OpenStreetMap Nominatim: turns a postal code into a city
  • RunSignup: lists nearby races for a chapter's area. If your club switches on Results Finder, we also read RunSignup's public race results and match them to your name, gender and age on our own systems, to suggest races to add to your race history. Nothing about you is sent to RunSignup, and a club admin checks each one before it's added.

Face recognition runs on our own systems. Your face data is never sold or shared with any third party.

Strava data

Before you connect Strava, we show you what we collect and how, and ask you to agree to it and to members of your club seeing your activity. We record that agreement with its date.

  • How we get it: through Strava's official connection, which you approve on Strava. We check for new activities nightly, and Strava tells us when you edit or delete one; deleted activities leave RunClurb within minutes.
  • Who sees it: members of your club, on leaderboards, mini games, awards and milestones. Activities you set to “Only Me” on Strava are never shown or counted.
  • What we never do: sell it, share it outside your club, or send it to an AI service.
  • How long we keep it: while you're connected. Disconnecting deletes it 30 days later; deleting your account deletes it immediately.
  • Strava's own role: Strava may monitor and collect usage data about how RunClurb uses Strava's services, and may use it for any business purpose, including improving its services, providing support and checking that RunClurb follows Strava's terms.
  • Strava's privacy policy: Strava handles your Strava account under its Privacy Policy, which controls if anything here conflicts with it about Strava data. Strava and RunClurb each separately control the data they hold: requests about data held by Strava go to Strava, and requests about data held by RunClurb come to us.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account in the app at any time: Settings → Delete account (or go to runclurb.com/account/delete). Deleting your account immediately removes your login, email, profile details, photos, comments, RSVPs, plans, face data, device tokens, workouts you recorded in the app, your Strava connection and every activity we received from Strava, and we revoke our access to your Strava account. We email you a confirmation. Finished club results you earned stay on the club's record so other members' standings don't change, but they show as “Deleted member” and are no longer linked to you.

Your choices

  • Edit your profile, units and notifications in Settings.
  • Turn face recognition off in your club's Settings.
  • Disconnect Strava in your club's Settings. We delete the activity data we received from Strava 30 days later, unless you reconnect first, and email you when it's done. Finished club results you earned (game placings, awards, mileage tiers) stay on the club's record.
  • Block another member so you no longer see their photos or comments.
  • Turn off race result suggestions, or set the name you race under, in your club's Settings.
  • Ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it by emailing info@runclurb.com.

Children

RunClurb is for people 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and let members know in the app.
